General

What is a Political Action Committee (PAC)?

A PAC is a group formed to support causes, laws, and leaders that put shared values, ideals, and communities first. PACs raise money and use it to help candidates who share these values get elected or stay in office and to educate the public on important matters.

Why was this PAC created?

We formed the PAC to make sure patients in Arkansas always come first (not big corporations or middlemen). Our mission is to support leaders who protect patients’ access to affordable, local, and high-quality care.

Who runs the PAC?

The PAC is managed by independent providers who are also community leaders, healthcare advocates, and supporters who care about protecting patients’ rights and improving healthcare in Arkansas.

Contributions and Donations

How are donations used?

Every dollar goes toward supporting lawmakers and community efforts that align with our mission: putting patients before profit and protecting access to local care.

Can anyone donate?

Yes, as long as you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Arkansas law does have rules about how much individuals and groups can give, and we follow those rules closely.

Can my company donate?

Yes, please donate with your corporate information.  Reach out to us for any questions, a copy of our W-9, or any additional information that you may require.  We thank you for supporting our shared mission, vision, and goals.  If you would like to provide corporate sponsorship and evaluate options, please do not hesitate to contact us!

How do I know my donation is being used honestly?

PACs are required by law to report all donations and spending. Our financial reports are filed with the Arkansas Secretary of State and the Arkansas Ethics Commission and are public records.

Are contributions tax deductible?

While PAC contributions are not federally deductible, Arkansas does allow a credit against individual state income tax for cash contributions.  The credit is capped, please be sure to review state tax laws and state tax form AR1000TC to learn more as it may apply to your individual situation.

Can I donate anonymously?

No, Patients First PAC, adheres strictly to the Arkansas Rules on Political Committees published by the Arkansas Secretary of State.  These rules require that we report the name and address of each person that made a contribution or contributions in excess of two hundred dollars ($200) in the aggregate during the calendar year.

Why do you require my information for each donation?

Patients First PAC, adheres strictly to the Arkansas Rules on Political Committees published by the Arkansas Secretary of State.  These rules require that we report the name and address of each person that made a contribution or contributions in excess of two hundred dollars ($200) in the aggregate during the calendar year.  Your information is used to track the aggregate amount and to disclose to the state if your donation exceeds the threshold required by law.

What is the minimum contribution amount?

There is no minimum contribution amount.  Even small donations make a difference when combined with others. We appreciate any amount you wish to contribute in pursuit of our shared mission, vision, and goals.

What is the maximum contribution amount?

The current maximum contribution amount is $10,000 in aggregate during the calendar year.

When do you report contributions to the state?

Contributions are reported quarterly in April, July, October, and January (of the following year), by the 15th calendar day of the month.  The reporting period covers the previous quarter.

Participation and Involvement

Do I have to donate money to be involved?

Not at all. Sharing our message, volunteering, and talking to friends and neighbors about patient issues are just as important as donating.

Can I volunteer with the PAC?

Yes! Volunteers help us with outreach, events, and spreading awareness in their communities

How can I stay updated on what the PAC is doing?

You can follow us on social media, sign up for our email updates, or check our website regularly for news and events.

Can I suggest issues the PAC should focus on?

Absolutely. We welcome input from patients, families, and caregivers. You can contact us anytime to share your story or suggestion.

Can patients share their personal stories with the PAC?

Yes! Your stories are powerful and help lawmakers understand why protecting local healthcare matters.

Will the PAC hold events I can attend?

Yes, we plan community events, meet-and-greets, and educational sessions where you can learn more and get involved.

Rules and Compliance

Yes. PACs are allowed under Arkansas and federal law, as long as we follow strict reporting and contribution rules.

Who oversees PACs in Arkansas?

The Arkansas Ethics Commission and Arkansas Secretary of State makes sure PACs follow the law and are transparent about their finances.

Can the PAC tell me who to vote for?

We can share which candidates we support, but the choice is always yours. Our goal is to provide clear information so you can make the decision that’s right for you.

Transparency and Trust

Does the PAC belong to one political party?

No. Our PAC is focused on patient issues, not party lines. We support all leaders: Republican, Democrat, or Independent, who put Arkansas patients first.

How do I know this PAC isn’t just helping big corporations?

Unlike many national PACs, we are patient-driven and run by local independent healthcare providers (serving in your local community). Our focus is on protecting local care and ensuring healthcare decisions are made in Arkansas, not by out-of-state corporations.

Are PACs secretive?

No. PACs must report every donation received and every dollar spent each quarter.  These reports are posted on the Secretary of State’s website and can be viewed or downloaded by the public.

Can I see which candidates the PAC supports?

Yes. We publish the names of supported candidates on our website and on the Arkansas State PAC Disclosure website, so you always know how donations are being used.

Do PACs “buy” politicians?

PACs cannot buy votes. What we can do is support candidates who already share our values, so they have the resources to reach more voters and stay in office to represent patients.
